Realizing there are only a dozen days left before our Brazilian adventures begin should be sending me into a panic, based on my to-do list. But I currently feel fairly calm, maybe because Mom is being panicky for me by reading all the safety guides regarding Brazil. Or, perhaps the reality of leaving the country again in twelve days just hasn't set in yet because I'm so busy. Before my stay in Spain in 2007 I had a few weeks of holiday break, which I spent mostly worrying myself sick (literally). And looking back I wonder if that was more so from lack of activity than actual fear of the unknown. In this new trip there are even more unknowns--like where I'll be living in Brasilia-- so it would only follow that I should be more concerned. Interesting.
FYI: I'll try to keep my prep posts short for now, and will continue with the pics and posts on this blog as long as internet is in my grasp in South America.

Just some reminders - don't drink the water, don't get into unmarked taxis, stay away from areas were drug lords have battles, don't carry anything of value with you as it will be stolen, take your malaria pills, remember to not ride the buses after 11:00 pm, oh and did I mention it's legal to run a red light after 10:00 pm?? Got to have some way to fool those nasty car jackers....
